Concord Grape Belt TourismThe Concord Grape Belt encompasses portions of both New York and Pennsylvania. The western portion of the belt encompasses the communities of Harborcreek, PA, North East , PA and Ripley, NY. The central region includes the towns of Westfield, Brocton and Pomfret/Fredonia. The Eastern portion is made up of the towns of Dunkirk, Sheridan and Silver Creek. The Escarpment is a natural dividing line to the south, but no visit to the grape belt would be complete without a Portage between Lake Erie and Lake Chautauqua. This route, "the Old Portage Trail" between Westfield and Mayville, NY was followed for many years by those shipping goods between the Great Lakes and the Midwest. A drop of rain falling on the Westfield side of the Escarpment flows to the Great Lakes, a drop of rain falling on the Mayville side will eventually flow to the Mississippi River. Travelers venturing over the Escarpment will visit the quaint town of Mayville and the world renowned Chautauqua Institution. The local visitor's bureaus
